Vantastic Minibus Services – Passenger Commitment
We recognise that every journey is different and every passenger is unique.
Vantastic aims to give equivalent access without discrimination as far as is possible to all our Accessible Door-to-Door Minibus service passengers.
Vantastic Drivers:
- have a legal responsibility to remain in charge of the Minibus at all times when passengers are aboard.
- work with all our passengers to give reasonable assistance to safely board or leave the Minibus.
- will ensure that Non-Wheelchair passengers are safely seated and secured with seat belts engaged
- will ensure that Wheelchair passengers are securely anchored and secured with seat belts engaged
- are not responsible for any personal medical equipment such as medical oxygen apparatus, colostomy bags, etc.
- will under no circumstance enter a passenger’s home or go beyond central reception/hall areas in other locations.
Travel Assistant:
Vantastic advises that passengers whose mobility is restricted by disability or for any other reason, and who require appropriate assistance and adaptation of the service beyond the assistance that the Vantastic driver can provide should consider a travel assistant. Vantastic allows for a travel assistant to accompany a passenger free of charge when required.
Eligibility for Non-Wheelchair passengers to travel without a travel assistant:
- Passengers must be able to safely move to and from the Minibus independent of assistance from the Vantastic Driver.
- Passengers who can act on their own in an emergency may travel unaccompanied, this means: being able to unbuckle a seat belt, leave the seat and reach the emergency exit unaided. In addition, they must be able to understand safety instructions and advice in an emergency.
Eligibility for Wheelchair passengers to travel without a travel assistant:
- Passengers must be able to safely move to and from the Minibus independent of assistance from the Vantastic Driver.
- Passengers must be able to understand safety instructions and advice in an emergency.
